Mini Furnature
I made this small project because I was debating about rearranging my room. However, instead of jumping right into moving furniture, I decided to 3D print my apartment bedroom at a 1/50th the scale. The challenge of this project was getting the rough dimensions of all the pieces of furniture I own, as well as the dimensions of my room; which isn't a lot but still very tedious. My mistake in doing this is that I measured everything in inches, but wanted to design for millimeters. I ended up making a spreadsheet to calculate the scale so it wasn't too big of a mistake.
With my personal things at a small scale, I can play around with their orientation almost as if they're pieces in a doll house. This way I won't randomly move things in and out of my way because, as a mover, I know how annoying it can be to move furniture. As seen below, the silver 8mm screw represents my 3D printer and the black 16mm screw represents my guitar.
Arrangement 1
This was the old arrangement of my room. You can see on the left how the desk and my closet door (left) interfere with eachother; which I always found annoying. It was also difficult to get to my bookshelf in the back because of the tight squeeze.
Arrangement 2
Using these miniatures, I was able to find an arrangement that works much better. There's room for the closet door to open as well as more usable space for my desk and bookshelf area.
3D Printed Wifi QR Code
This simple but fun project was an idea of mine after finding the number of times I had to share the wifi password with guests. This QR code provides guests with an easy and convenient way to connect to wifi while also having a cool interactive aspect. This project taught me new methods in 3D printing such as printing with multiple layers and adjusting different offsets.
WPI Campus Scale Model
Scale model of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) campus. I learned to utilize the Blendr software to retrieve elevation and building data from Google Maps and create a 3D-printable STL.
